And the cards fit neatly into a person’s wallet or purse. Prepaid gas cards often come in nice attractive colors and it’s possible that you can even recycle them because they are made of plastic.

They are popular.

If you need to start a conversation with anyone these days, just pop the question , "How much does it take to fill up your tank?" and before you know it, people will be talking all night. Gas prices have been a hot topic for quite some time now, so it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that a prepaid gas card is a popular item now.

Seriously, if you’re stumped on what to buy your dad or sister for a present, you have a really high chance of getting the perfect gift if you get a prepaid gift card. However, just be aware of some reasons why prepaid gift cards may not be so perfect like:

Often, they are only for a particular gas station.

Usually, you buy gift cards at a certain store. And the same goes for gas. That means that if you buy a person a gift card to a Mobile or and Exxon, that person will have to look for that particular gas station to get some gas. That can be very inconvenient.

Often certain gas stations are open later than others. Some gas stations open earlier than others and so on. If a person needs to get some gas in the middle of the night and the particular gas station you got them the gift card for is closed, what is that person supposed to do? They’re basically stuck. For this reason, cold, hard cash may just be a better gift than a gift card.

They can get lost easily.

Sometimes people don’t pay much attention to a flimsy, plastic card. And that’s even if it’s a prepaid gas card. You don’t want anyone accidentally throwing away your precious gifts. But no one loses cash.
